The Forest Dynamo

Dodo’s high energy kept caregivers on their toes from his very first week. As soon as his morning health check concludes, he dashes towards the nursery playground, eager to test the highest branches.

Surrogate mothers channel his enthusiastic spirit into practical jungle education—teaching him how to discern edible forest leaves, find clean water pockets, and build sturdy evening nests.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I adopt an orangutan as a gift for someone else?

Yes, absolutely. An orangutan adoption makes a profound, meaningful gift. During checkout, you can specify the recipient's name so their official adoption certificate and welcome pack can be personalized in their honor.

How long does my monthly adoption commitment last?

Because rehabilitation takes between 7 and 9 years, ongoing monthly adoption provides the steady, reliable funding needed to see orphaned orangutans all the way through Forest School to wild release. However, you maintain complete control and can pause, modify, or cancel your monthly adoption at any time.

Are adoptions tax-deductible in Australia?

Yes. Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS) Australia is an Australian registered charity with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status. Any donation or monthly adoption gift of $2 or more is fully tax-deductible for Australian taxpayers.

How much of my adoption goes directly to animal care?

BOS Australia is run with a passionate volunteer committee and minimal administrative overhead. Over 80% of all funds raised go directly to food, medicine, 24/7 surrogate care, and rainforest sanctuary operations on the ground in Borneo.
